Teacher of the Year Congratulations

My son (who is now a senior in high school) had the most awesome teacher in third grade.  In fact, I think this teacher was his all time favorite.  We found out that he is being honored as one of three Minnesota Social Studies Teacher of the Year.  This is the card I made to send to him.

Card base is Kraft, with a piece of Autumn Traditions DSP matted on top.  The sentiment strip (Kraft) is mounted on top of the DSP, and stamped with a Well Scripted sentiment.  The pheasant and wheat are from the Autumn Days stamp set.  Ink used was Soft Suede.

Family Birthday Cards

Here are two cards that I made for family birthdays.

This first card is one I made for my dad.  It uses the Autumn Days stamp set from Stampin' Up! (This is a favorite go-to set for masculine cards.)  I've been seeing many stair step cards as I've visited blogs and wanted to try one.  I found directions for a Middle Step Card (I'm sorry I don't remember where - I will keep looking and post the link if I can find it) and knew I wanted to try it with this set.  The folded base is Soft Suede and the images are stamped on Kraft with Soft Suede and Dusty Durango ink.  I used the ticket punch on the corners.

This is the card I made for my mom. I used Rose Red designer paper for the background.  The rest of the card is all supplies from the new Occasions Mini and Sale-A-Brations catalogs.  I LOVE the new border punch that is in the Sale-A-Bration catalog.  It makes such a simple, but elegant border.  The flower is from the Sweet Pea Stitched felt set and the sentiment is from the Well Scripted sentiment set, both in the Occasions Mini catalog.

Cards from scraps!

Greetings - here are two cards that I shared as examples at my classes last week. As I was preparing papers for my workshop/class I had scraps of SU Fall Designer Paper left. As you may recall, it is tough for me to throw out those small scraps so I came up with a use for them. In this case I used them for a mosaic look, cut out the top note shape and used both the cut out and the frame for my two cards. The materials used are all Stampin' Up! The ink and cardstock color is Always Artichoke and the scrap DSP is from the Autumn Designer Paper pack. The stamp set used for the images was Autumn Days. The sentiment came from the Thoughts and Prayers stamp set. Thanks for stopping by to visit!

It's been awhile...

...since I have been on my blog. The past several weeks have been hectic. School started for all of us and that makes our life busier with school activities and other commitments. We're starting to establish "school year routine" again, so that's good.

I have now become a Stampin' Up! demonstrator and have been working to get going with that as well. I'm very excited about this new venture in my life and look forward to see where the path leads. I will hold my first card making workshop in about two weeks, so have been working on my samples. Here are the cards we will be making

I'm absolutely in love with the Autumn Days stamp set. Three of these cards are made with stamps from that set. It is a very versatile set and a great one for making masculine cards (of which I need many of). However, with just a change of ink and card stock color, the images can be geared towards a more feminine look as well, as seen in the Razzleberry thank you card.
