Sunflowers!!

The challenge today at 365 Cards was to be inspired by sunflowers. This card is based on a quilting pattern, "Sunflower Star". The pattern paper, Francis Meyer Autumn Wheat, has been in my stash quite a long time, but works nicely for the flower center. The wheat stems reminded me of the sunflower seeds that grow in the flower center. The border was punched with a MS checkerboard edge punch. Thanks for stopping by to take a peek!!

365 Cards - Triangle Bouquet

I can't believe this is my second post today!! It has been so nice to finally have some time to create. Here's what I came up with for today's very challenging sketch at 365 Cards. I really had some fun with this card and chuckled the entire time I was making it, because this card is so not my natural style. Surprisingly, I'm pleased with the result.


The paper I used was from We R Memory Keepers (Tiffany's) and it was double sided. I originally purchased the paper for the side that my "flowers" came from. However, the other side of the paper was split into quarters with 4 coordinating prints. The background is one of the four prints. To make the large triangle, I cut smaller triangles from the other 3 coordinating prints and pieced them together. This is actually a quilt pattern - Triangles in a Triangle. I cut the flowers from the reverse side of the paper and then mounted them on black to make them stand out. For a finishing touch, I added a bow from my stash of ribbon and a dragon-fly sticker (Stampendous - Class A Peel).

Birthday card

Here's the birthday card I made for my SIL. She is the one who is an excellent quilter and has many beautiful quilts that she has constructed. I think she will really enjoy this card! Stamp set is PTI Quilter's Sampler. I colored the quilt squares with prisma and OMS. The blue and purple paper is Star Dreamz - it has a sparkly sheen to it. I used a dot of stickles in the center of each quilt square. Blessings to you today!

Haven't had time today to work on any challenge cards, so I am going to share a card that I made some time ago. In March I posted this card made using some dimensional stickers I had found. Today's card is made with a different sticker from the same package. I matted it with the blue and green paper and then mounted it on white that I had trimmed with a decorative scissor. The white border was punched with a Martha Stewart punch. Thanks for looking and Happy Mother's Day tomorrow.

Busy Week for Me!!

It has been a crazy week here and I haven't had the time to "play" making cards. Hopefully next week will be better and I can get back into the challenges. Today, I 'm posting a really simple card that I made several months ago. I call it "Going Dotty". I had two papers that I wanted to try together and this was the result. The circles and squares were made with Creative Memories punches.

First Day of Spring

In honor of the first day of spring, I'm posting this card (even though it's a few days late). It's gray and rainy today and I need some brightness in my world. The butterflies are stamped with SU watercolor minis using SU whisper white on purple cardstock. Squares are 1.25 inches and punched with Creative Memories square punch. I don't know the manufacturer of the plaid paper. It's some that I have had in my stash for a very long time. Thanks for looking!

Quilt Card

I enjoy quilts. However, I do NOT enjoy sewing. My sister-in-law is a quilter and makes beautiful quilts which I have the pleasure of seeing when they're done. The medium I enjoy is paper, and I have begun a journey of playing with quilt patterns on paper. I like to play with colors and designs, and am also one who finds pleasure when things come out "balanced." I was THRILLED to find two quilt block sets at www.papertreyink.com. Now I can indulge my interest in quilts on paper. The actual quilt blocks are approximately .75 inches square. I stamped this block on watercolor paper using black Stazon ink. Then, I took watercolor pencils and colored them using an aquapen...rubbing the pencil tip with the aquapen and coloring the squares that way. I like the subdued/stained glass effect that this gave my squares. I stamped the blue cardstock with a subtle background stamp, using versa mark ink, then attached the water color squares. To fill in the blue spaces a bit, I used a tulip stamp from Hero Arts Tiny Garden set and black Stazon ink. The green square was cut using a decorative edge scissors and holes were punched around the edge using a small hole punch. Here's the final result, with which I am very pleased:
