Clean and Simple Card - FTL76

Can you believe this is my second card post today!!

 

I absolutely LOVE the Perfect Polka Dots impression folder that Stampin' Up! has for sale in their Occasions Mini Catalog!!  It makes a simple, yet elegant card.  This card was made for the FTL 76 challenge (found here and here).  I didn't include a sentiment because I just wanted a general card.  The card base is Whisper White, and run through the Big Shot with the Polka Dot impressions folder.  The four 1 inch squares are made from the Sending Love designer paper.  The ribbon is Pretty in Pink, as is the solid color card stock the squares are mounted on (I rounded the corners).  I don't know if you can tell, but the flower is sparkly (like the hearts in this card).  I've had several questions about how I made them and hope to make a tutorial in the near future.  It is VERY EASY!!  The white center was made with a white gel pen.

Clean and Simple Weekend Sketch

Although I love all the pattern papers and embellishments on the market today, quite often I find myself gravitating toward the Clean and Simple look. I decided to tackle the sketches posted on the Clean and Simple website for this week. The challenge was to make two 3x3 cards, one with each sketch. This week is our last week of school, and I have two gals that are always willing to help me out with my workload. I made a card for each of them and plan to get them a little something to thank them for all their help. Here's what I came up with:

Blue Card: Medallion is made with Boss Kutz die cut; Sentiment is SU stamped with Versa Color (Cyan); Embellishment from my stash Pink Card: Sentiment is SU stamped with Versa Color Midnight Black and punched with SU punch; Border punched with MS punch; Paper and ribbon from my stash and scraps.

Clean and Simple Card - Sketch 40

I absolutely LOVE how this card turned out. I knew what I wanted to try for this challenge, but wasn't sure how it was all going to come together. Claire at Waltzingmouse makes made these adorable butterflies out of ribbon. I knew that was what I wanted to try and they were perfect for this sketch. I first found the ribbon colors - then matched the patterned paper with it (Heidi Grace Midnight Kisses). Dug around in my stash and found the solid papers (the lighter ones are gray tone to match the ribbon). I don't have either stamps or a texture plate that has writing on it for the background so I went with a different texture plate that gives the same effect. I don't have an oval scallop die, so I cut the lighter gray with the die I do have, attached it to the darker gray and then trimmed around the oval with a scallop scissors. I did the same with the band that goes across the card. I used a silver pen to draw the butterfly antennae on the card.

CAS Fall-to Layout 39

Here's my clean and simple card for this challenge. I had experimented with stamping SU Whisper White on the back of velum and then colored it in. This image was just laying around, begging me to be used on a card. I though it would work perfectly for this challenge and ran it through my Xyron and then mounted it on pale purple before cutting into a circle. The purple plaid was scrap. The lace border was from a MS kit I found on clearance last summer. Can't remember what the kit was supposed to make (and didn't buy it for that reason), but I LOVED the paper border and had to have it. The border is the whole reason I bought the kit LOL! It works well with this card. The card isn't the same dimensions as the challenge, but this is the size I like to work with.

Clean and Simple Card - Sketch Day

Well, I tried one more challenge this week on the Clean and Simple blog. The sketch was posted today. I really had fun making this card!! The light purple background paper was run through my Big Shot using a texture plate (Fiskars). The flower was a Boss Kut die run through my Big Shot. The paper I used for the flower was stardreams (three different colors), and it has a shiny look. I also attached a sparkle gem in the middle. I really like the kaleidoscope look that the flower has.
